3rd Batch of Engine Rating Trainees Inaugurated
02 Mar 2020
IMEC is pleased to announce that the 3rd batch of it’s Engine Rating programme, in partnership with AMOSUP, were inaugurated on the 27th February 2020.
The 43 boys will now undergo an 18 month training programme, which will see them gaining nationally recognised certificates in machining and arc welding, as well as their basic STCW certificates.
Addressing the trainees at the Inauguration, IMEC’s Resident Agent RAdm Bayani Gaerlan (Ret) said:
“I understand, most of these scholars are coming from the not so privileged sector of our society and now, are given the rare opportunity to be trained for free and to have a readily available employer after completion of their training in the near future.
This engine rating program together with other partnership programs, has been in existing for some years now and I believe that it is very beneficial both for the scholars and the sponsors and to the Philippine shipping industry in general. For this , I would like to recognize the efforts put together by IMEC, Don Bosco and AMOSUP. The collaboration of these three organizations continuously makes the program a success. I hope that with the benefits that this program is providing, these three organizations will be continually inspired and not get tired of providing assistance, hope and bright future to our less privileged young fellowmen”.
