IMEC and ITF Conclude First Set of Local Wage Negotiations

30 Sep 2021

IMEC is pleased to confirm that it has now concluded the first set of local wage negotiations, having concluded the central IBF wage negotiations on Friday 3rd September.

The IBF agreed to a 3% increase in 2022 and a 1.5% increase in 2023, with the allocation of the increases to be agreed at local level.  This week the local agreements were concluded for the Philippines (AMOSUP and APSU), the Ukraine (MYWTU), Germany (Ver.di) and Taiwan (NCSU).

Speaking at the end of the negotiations, IMEC’s CEO Mr. Francesco Gargiulo said:

“The Covid-19 travel restrictions have resulted in all of the negotiations taking place virtually, which has been far from ideal.  However, I am pleased that most of the negotiations this week have been concluded successfully, with a particular emphasis on cash to seafarers, which was IMEC’s core principle going into these discussions.”

All the local negotiations are due to be completed by the end of October.
